After we returned from Somerset East we got a few days rest and then set out for our next ministry sight. On that Tuesday we ended up driving for 15 hours to the Northern Cape. The director of the ministry organization here in South Africa grew up on a farm and his parents still reside there in Danielskuil. So for those past few days we spent time on their farm and doing ministry around the local towns.
Each day was filled by going out to a town with one of the locals and doing prayer walks in the communities. We would prayerfully wonder the streets and be welcomed into homes to pray over their houses. We also had the chance to work with a group of kids and organize a program for a few hours.
Being honest, this week was very difficult for myself and the team. But even in those times I believe the lord provided opportunities for us all to grow individually and as a team.
When we were not doing ministry we had time to explore the farm and enjoy a little bit of South African farm life. We did late night bonfires in the middle of the bush, went horseback riding and ran the horses through the open meadows, rode in pony carts, milked cows and drank fresh milk from the utters, and allowed ourselves to run around like kids as we played on the playground equipment.
During this week we had a lot of down time, but what we didn't realize in the moment was that we would need that rest to have energy for the up coming weeks ministry.
Praises:
Times of rest
Experiencing more of the South African culture
Building relationships
Growing in unity in our team
Seeing so many stars without any light pollution
Prayers:
For provisions for the communities we visited
For ministries to be sustained in Danielskuil
